Underfloor Heating, Energy Efficient and Luxurious
Underfloor heating is a way of heating a home through the use of strong and flexible tubing that is embedded in the floor. It is efficient and affordable, offering numerous advantages over radiators. There are various types of underfloor heating systems available. The best solution for you will depend on a range of factors including your project type, your current heating system and energy source. Working in conjunction with heat pumps and solar energy sources, UFH can offer and energy efficient and luxurious heating solution.
One of the main benefits of underfloor heating systems is how it feels. As the heat gently emits upwards from the floor, it makes usually ice cold floors warm to the touch. Another advantage of UFH is that it produces an even warmth, eliminating any cold spots or draughts that are common with radiators.
- Suitable for most properties.
- Maximises space in the home.
- Luxurious feeling of warm floors.
- Flexible control through zoning areas of the home.
Warm water underfloor heating uses far lower flow temperatures than a radiator system, and because it covers a much larger surface area it is still able to heat the room effectively. For this reason, UFH is around 25% more efficient than radiators.
Radiators heat the air nearest them first (and usually up and out of a window), which is why rooms heated by radiators are prone to “cold spots”. Radiant heat (from under the floor heating) provides warmth from the floor upwards and throughout the room – so there’s no cold spots, no lost heat just a pleasant and constant temperature throughout the entire room.
Underfloor heating systems are ‘invisible’ as the tube is hidden beneath the floor. This frees up wall space, ideal for open plan living and rooms such as kitchens where space is at a premium.
It’s extremely flexible and can be installed in virtually any property type.
From new builds to renovations and extensions, there is a solution to suit! You can install UFH in one room or multiple rooms, and you can even have underfloor heating upstairs.
Underfloor heating has no exposed hot or sharp edges – a safe option for young children and the elderly. UFH is great for allergy sufferers and those with respiratory conditions as it provides a warmth free from draughts and dust movements that can aggravate conditions.
As a low temperature heating system, it uses less energy than traditional high temperature systems like radiators. This can help you to reduce your carbon footprint – even more so when installed alongside an air source heat pump or ground source heat pump.
Underfloor Heating is 25% more efficient than radiators & up to 40% more efficient when used with a heat pump!
